Scott Joplin - Bethena,
a Concert Waltz

Written in 1905 for piano, Bethena was the first work following Joplin's wife Freddie's death in 1904, only ten weeks after their wedding. The composition combines two distinct styles, the classical waltz and the syncopated rhythms of ragtime. Bethena is an excellent emotional example of Joplin's originality and skill as a composer in the classical style. This flute & guitar transcription is a well-balanced duet. $6.95
